Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District

Estero Americano Preserve

Kayakers and cattle share space on this these easement-protected coastal properties (Dewar/Hepper) in western Sonoma County. Much of the land is used for cattle grazing, but the site adjoins the Estero Americano and the salt marsh area supports a variety of marine and bird species. The properties are owned by the Sonoma Land Trust and the District holds an easement. Kayakers use the property as a put-in for the estero, and the District’s partner, LandPaths, offers organized kayak trips from the site.
