Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District

Sonoma Coast State Beach Additions

These spectacular coastal properties contain rolling grasslands, Coast redwood and Douglas fir forests, and abundant wildlife. The steep ravines on these biologically diverse landscapes create picturesque waterfalls in several locations. Over three miles of fish-bearing creeks and streams flow through the property and support species such as northern spotted owl, marbled murrelet and California red-legged frog. Wander the sites through redwood groves or along coastal trails with magnificent ocean vistas. An amazing 4,283 acres have been added to Sonoma Coast State Beach through District purchases, the third most-visited State Park in California. Another 515 acres is protected by an easement. (Created by two separate District acquisitions: Red Hill and Willow Creek)
