Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District

Poff

This spectacular property was the largest privately-owned landholding between Bodega Bay and the Russian River and is surrounded by publicly-owned and protected properties. The District will work with the California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to transfer the property as an addition to Sonoma Coast State Park, retaining a conservation easement to permanently preserve the important coastal grasslands that are highly visible from Highway 1, Its acquisition would allow for additional access to and from the Park and could potentially connect to local regional trails including the California Coastal Trail and the Coleman Valley Trail. Wright Hill, a prominent feature on the property at 1,190 feet in elevation, will be a natural hiking destination. The landscape includes rolling coastal grasslands, clusters of mixed coastal forest and a portion of Furlong Gulch.
